Synectics flags US.5mln contract with a Philippine casino resort

Synectics Plc, a United Kingdom-based provider of security and surveillance technology, says it has been selected to upgrade the surveillance system of a “leading casino operator” in the Philippines. The company also said it secured its first contract with a tribal gaming operator in the United States.

In a Wednesday press release, the company said the two contracts are valued, in aggregate, at just above US$3.0 million.

The first contract, valued at US$2.5 million, “has been secured with a world-class integrated casino resort located in Entertainment City, Manila,” in the Philippines, stated Synectics.

Synectics did not name the casino firm, but said it has been a “customer since 2016”.

According to the announcement, Synectics will upgrade its “proprietary Synergy software” at the casino resort, “and deliver a major” refreshment of the existing video surveillance infrastructure.

“The work will involve upgrading critical components of the customer’s surveillance system, enhancing its performance, scalability, and long-term resilience,” the technology supplier added.

Synectics said the majority of the contract work was “expected to be delivered” during its current financial year.

The surveillance firm also announced its first contract with a “tribal gaming property in Oklahoma, North America”. The deal, valued at US$600,000, “will see Synectics deploy its Synergy software” across the operator’s property.

The technology to be provided “includes Synergy’s suite of AI-tools to deliver real-time monitoring, detection and alerts,” added the company.

“This contract supports Synectics’ strategic growth objectives of expanding its presence in the tribal gaming sector,” observed the surveillance company.

The update cited Amanda Larnder, Synectics’ chief executive and chief financial officer, as saying: “The upgrade at a world-class resort in Manila reflects the strength of our long-term customer relationships and the ongoing investment by major operators in Synergy’s mission-critical solutions.”

She added: “The tribal gaming contract in Oklahoma marks both an important entry into a new market and an early deployment of Synergy’s new AI tools.

“These orders further underpin the group’s revenue in the current financial year.”

According to the firm’s website, for gaming sector clients globally, Synectics oversees “150,000 channels monitored and recorded in casino properties worldwide”.

The company operates in a number of jurisdictions in Asia, having provided services to casino operators in Macau, Singapore and the Philippines, as well as to other gaming sector-related regional clients.

In early May, Synectics said it would launch later this year a new tool for its video-surveillance platform, enabling advanced forensics in relation to video analytics functions, including free-text search.
