DeKalb Perimeter Community Improvement District (DeKalb PCID) partnered with city of Dunwoody and Dunwoody Police Department to implement security upgrades in DeKalb’s portion of the Perimeter Center district, the area surrounding Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody.

The DeKalb PCID officials approved $173,350 in funds for a two-year public safety and technology partnership with Dunwoody Police Department, “demonstrating a steadfast commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of residents and visitors in the region,” according to a news release.

The news release states that the partnership will leverage “state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology to enhance surveillance and monitoring capabilities” to enhance public safety.

Dunwoody’s “Perimeter District” includes major corporate headquarters, Perimeter Mall, mixed-use developments, and other destinations for shopping, dining, entertainment, and lodging.

“By investing in this advanced technology and collaborating closely with the Dunwoody Police Department, we are taking proactive steps to address evolving safety needs and uphold our commitment to public safety,” said Executive Direction of Perimeter Community Improvement Districts Ann Hanlon.

The partnership will involve the deployment of Dunwoody Police Department’s Flock Safety system, according to the news release. Flock Safety is surveillance equipment that includes Falcon license plate readers, a Raven gunshot detection system covering 1-square mile, and Condor pan-tilt-zoom cameras.

Several men were arrested in 2023 for a shooting inside of Perimeter Mall.

The news release states that Dunwoody’s commitment to the partnership shows the city is taking “proactive measures that prioritize the safety and well-being of residents, employees, and visitors alike.”

“These measures will not only help deter crime but also facilitate rapid response and investigation, further enhancing overall safety in the area,” the news release states.

“We are pleased about the opportunities this partnership presents to enhance public safety in Dunwoody,” said Dunwoody Police Chief Mike Carlson. “By leveraging advanced technology and working closely with DeKalb PCID, we can better serve our community and ensure a safer environment for all.”
